There are many farms in Maryland with rolling green hills most of the year. In the winter, when the snow covers the ground, in between the fields are rows of Oak or Hickory trees grown to slow the wind. In the winter they turn to dark, bare trees against white snow. The cattle and deer walk trails in the snow, exposing golden grass, dead in winter and waiting for spring. This painting was inspired by a light moon in a daylight sky.
