In Flagstaff, Arizona I had a neighbor who had the most beautiful pastel rendering of this brilliant desert formation captured by his artist friend, Betsy. After my own adventure of over a year painting this part of the Navajo reservation, I never actually saw what I called Betsy’s formation. I remember eating lunch at the Cameron Trading post, I was certain I had painted all the formation that inspired me, but I never found Betsy’s formation. I took one final 30 drive to say goodbye to my special on of quiet and refuge. I flipped a u-turn to head home, and there it was! I pulled out my canvas, paints and got to work.
